Staff retention in the hotel industry.

I was delighted to co-host a podcast with IAHGM last week. (International Association Hotel General Managers).

The theme of the podcast was talent retention and attraction in the hotel industry. This is a topic of significant importance, as many hotels are suffering from staff shortages at this time, and with a further 6,159 hotels under construction and an additional 3,840 planned to start development in 2025 the situation is not likely to improve.

We explored strategies to reduce staff turnover, and how recognition platforms such as Brownie Points are playing a key part in the efforts to retain talent. With 150+ hotel clients we have significant experience in this sector.

With staff turnover estimated to cost up to 150% of an employee’s salary according to Gallup, we focused on the importance of talent retention.

Leon Larkin asked some great questions, and we are sure that the 75,000 members who receive the podcast will find it insightful and helpful in their challenge to retain talent. A summary of the key facts will also appear in the next issue of the IAHGM newsletter.
